You’ll be notified 20 days prior to your Personal Use license expiring – and can initiate the renewal up to 30 days before expiration.Īutodesk does not currently limit the number of times you can renew the free hobbyist license – and they’ve clarified that they have no intention of getting rid of the free offering. For example, if you sign up on June 1st, 2023, then your access will expire on June 1st, 2026. There are still a few confusing steps, so I’ve created a video tutorial as well as outlined each required step below.įusion 360’s free Personal Use license expires 3-years from the date you sign up. However, the license terms have changed to now last 3 years for the Personal Use license.Īutodesk has completely revamped the renewal process, making it much easier than in prior years. Comments on YouTube and around the web have misled many into thinking the Personal Use license is only free for one year. There has been an uptick in misinformation with the recent changes to the Personal Use license. Most hobbyist users are using the free ‘Personal Use’ license type. Best regards.Autodesk currently offers four Fusion 360 licenses: Personal Use (Hobbyist), Education, Startup, and Commerical. However, rather than just being bitter I wanted to share some of the sentiment those of us in the maker communities are thinking and feeling. I am not ungrateful for the willingness of Autodesk to offer the personal license, and my post here is probably insignificant. If we abandon and invest the time to learn another software, process, and system, I doubt we will be back, and the loss of precious time invested will remain a sore spot. In my case I imagined one day when I retire from professional life being able to justify a small business using what I am learning and relying on a paid version of Fusion 360 to facilitate that.

All of us are still learning, we have day jobs and dabble in 3d printing and CNC routing in fits and starts as life allows and support each other in communities.

There a many of us and the discussion now is centered around life after Fusion 360 due to the new restrictions to the personal license. In my case I transitioned from Sketchup to learn Fusion 360, this is not a simple or easy transition, if not for the current capability of Fusion 360 I would have never bothered. I am a maker and a part of a large maker community. I read through the answers in the link above. I am a little embarrassed but I believe in open communication so I posted the following in the Autodesk Fusion 360 forums.
